Our customer, Greg suffered life-changing injuries after being knocked off his motorbike when a driver proceeded across his path.
Back in December 2013, *Greg was riding his motorbike on evening, travelling ahead of a bus towards a junction. The road was wet due to the recent rain and although it was dark, there was good visibility from the street lighting.
As Greg was proceeding towards the junction, a car emerged from the junction and travelled across Greg’s path, there wasn’t sufficient time for Greg to react or avoid the car. Greg’s motorbike collided with the car and he was knocked off his motorbike.
Following the accident, Greg was taken to hospital as he had suffered significant injuries, mainly to his lower limbs. He suffered a fracture of his right femur which was treated by IM nailing with interlocking screws, a fracture of his left tibia and fibula which was treated by Ilizarov frame, and a right scaphoid fracture. Greg underwent the surgical procedures during the days following the collision.
We handled Greg’s claim following his accident and during investigations, it was agreed by experts that Greg would suffer from osteoarthritic changes in his left knee and would require a knee replacement surgery and revision surgery. The private costs of this treatment and subsequent time of work was built into Greg’s claim. It was also agreed that due to the injuries Greg suffered, he would now be at a disadvantage in the open labour market and gaining employment in the future, therefore this was also considered in his claim.
We successfully achieved a settlement of £355,000 for Greg and hope this will allow him to rebuild his life. Louise Riley, a solicitor within our serious injury department, handled Greg’s claim, alongside solicitor, Neil Downey and assistant Bethany Leigh. Louise commented on Greg’s settlement “Greg has been a pleasure to represent. We wish him all the best for the future and hope that his compensation helps to rebuild his life and put the accident behind him.”
Greg was happy with the service he received and provided feedback to our team, he said: “I don’t really know what to say other than thank you to everybody at Fletchers involved with my case, for making this experience easier and I will for sure choose Fletchers if the unimaginable happens again.”
*Greg’s name has been changed to protect his identity.
