Mrs Baker was told that she would be unable to pick up her baby daughter by the time she was two years old if she did not undergo the surgery, which was supposed to be ‘dynamic stabilisation surgery’ which secures the spine to prevent it moving too much and is intended to last ten years. Instead she had supportive devices inserted between the bones of her spine, which will only last two years – and were not inserted correctly.
