ROLE:

The successful candidate will be expected to progress a caseload of around 40-50 Multi-Track cases (with a quantum value from approximately £25,000 to £100,000) from inception to settlement with Assistant support and in line with current company policy and legal requirements.

The successful candidate should be experienced in dealing with liability issues and should be confident with all aspects of the Court process.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Progress files in line with KPI targets and estimated settlement dates
  • Liaising with clients, experts, barristers, third party solicitors and insurers
  • Dealing with all aspects of pre and post issue procedures in a timely manner
  • To research points of law and to take responsibility for researching topics prior to undertaking allocated tasks to ensure accuracy
  • Undertaking where appropriate telephone negotiations, case management conferences and court hearings
  • Drafting court documents including pleadings, applications, witness statements and court directions
  • Attending meetings outside of the office when required
  • Ensuring that all outstanding actions as per the task list are completed in a timely fashion
  • Accurate recording time
  • Maintaining client files in good order and in accordance with Lexcel and other quality assurance requirements
  • Maximizing all opportunities to escape fixed recoverable costs where applicable
  • Knowledge of the cost budgeting process is desired
  • Responsible for developing and mentoring an Assistant Litigation Executive
